Have you ever seen alpacas playing in a field?! I have! They make me happy. I have the fortune of living near my friend's alpaca ranch and other ranches where she keeps her alpacas. Daily I get to watch them frolic and enjoy life. Definitely put it on your bucket list to visit an alpaca farm if you haven't done that yet in your life!
I've used wool dryer balls in my dryer now for over ten years instead of dryer sheets. Wool balls work and are a better alternative to dryer sheets but did you know that alpaca dryer balls work even better?! Alpaca fibers reduce wrinkles and static cling just like wool balls but they also help separate clothes and improve airflow, so heat circulates better. That means your laundry dries faster and uses less energy. Even better is that alpaca fiber is smoother and less coarse than sheep's wool, so the balls tend to be quieter in the dryer and a bit gentler on fabrics.
Ultimately, alpaca dryer balls are naturally hypoallergenic, chemical-free, and reusable for hundreds of loads of laundry. Paired with our lavender water (also known as lavender hydrosol - the pure byproduct of steam distilled lavender) and you have a great combo.
We use lavender water instead of lavender essential oil on our dryer balls because it is safer than using essential oils in the dryer. Essential oils are very concentrated and flammable in high heat if overused. Hydrosols are water-based and diluted, so they're a lower-risk option for heat and fabric.
Lavender water adds a light, natural fragrance to your laundry. Spray more lavender water on the alpaca balls as the scent dissipates.
